Lighting Instructions and Cautions

Lighting Instructions:

- Place 2 or 3 crisscrossed fatwood sticks on grate.
- Place split firewood on top of the fatwood, while leaving some room for airflow.
- Light the ends of the fatwood sticks, close fire screen, and enjoy!

Fatwood Directions for Charcoal Barbecue Grills:

- Place one firestarter flat on grate.
- Arrange charcoal into a neat mound.
- Light the firestarter.

Caution:

- Always open damper before starting a fire and ensure adequate air supply at all times.
- Ensure you don’t have downdraft and that your chimney and burn area are clean.
- Never use without a grate (1-3” spacing) and fire screen. Always leave glass door open.
- Never add fatwood to an existing fire.
- Afther lighting the fatwood and adding your firewood, wait 10 minutes before adding
additional firewood.
- Do not move, poke, break or agitate fatwood while it is burning.
- Adult supervision required. Never leave children or pets alone near fire
and fatwood.
- If necessary, extinguish with a dry chemical fire extinguisher (UL or ULC listed class B),
sand or water.
- Close damper when ashes are cool.
- Clean chimney regularly.
- Store the remaining fatwood sticks in a cool, dry place away from fire or open flames.
- Fatwood should not be used as a candle.
- Never cook over burning sticks (let them burn)
- NEVER LEAVE FIRE UNATTENDED.
